“One in eleven Oklahoma youth will experience the death of a parent or sibling before age 18. Programs like Camp Erin Tulsa play a vital role in the lives of children experiencing loss, giving them a safe haven for healing, understanding, and support. Many children often feel isolated and misunderstood following the death of an important person in their lives. At Camp Erin Tulsa, youth are free to express their grief, empowering them to navigate their grief, build resilience, and find hope for the future.
Camp Erin Tulsa is a free, overnight bereavement camp for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and make friends with peers who are also grieving.
Camp Erin is the largest national bereavement program for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Additional services are offered to support the whole family outside of the camp weekend. Through a network of partnerships with bereavement programs in local communities across the US and Canada, Camp Erin brings hope and healing to thousands of children and families annually and is o ered at no cost to families.”
We provided percussion supplies for 100 attendee’s at The Grief Center’s Camp Erin so each student had an instrument to participate in the program. Each attendee made a drum to use for music therapy classes during the camp.
